Most of my music comes to me via Pitchfork or a handful of critics so anything that comes onto my radar from another vector has the funny effect of making it awkward for me to place them in my mental critical mapping because I have to rely on… my own feelings. Scary stuff.

Runner is a band that friend showed me. I like the sound. I like the diy vibe. My reaction to their 2021 album Always Repeating (album) was “Hovvdy plus Pinegrove? Plus just a great execution of the 30 minute album.”[1]

This live album from a Aug 2022 performance in Los Angeles also popped and crooned. It reminded me of another recent live album by Black Country, New Road that I liked a lot.

Runner reminds me of lots of stuff I like. Looking forward to being reminded of them by other things I like in the future. Recommended.
